Good Questions
How do you get a reservation at Tatsu Dallas?
Through Tock, prepaid. Seats release on the 1st and the 15th at 8am CST for dates two weeks out, and parties are limited to one to four. Twenty covers a night means they go fast.
Does Tatsu Dallas have a Michelin star?
Yes, one star, awarded in November 2024 when it was the only starred restaurant in North Texas, and retained in the 2025 Texas guide.
Can Tatsu seat a group of six?
Not on a normal night. Reservations cap at four, so a six would need two pairs across one seating, or the full buyout for ten. We can arrange either.

About This Service
Twenty Seats a Night, and the Only Michelin Star in North Texas
Tatsu Dallas is a traditional edomae omakase counter in Deep Ellum that serves twenty guests per night. It took one Michelin star in November 2024, then the only starred restaurant in North Texas, and held it in 2025.
How the Reservation Actually Works
This is the hardest table in Dallas, and it is hard for structural reasons rather than fashionable ones. There are only so many seats. Knowing the system is most of the battle.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Seatings | Two per night, 5:30pm and 7:45pm, Tuesday to Saturday |
| Total covers | Twenty guests a night, roughly ten per seating |
| Party size | One to four only |
| Release | The 1st and 15th at 8am CST, for dates two weeks out |
| Payment | Prepaid through Tock |
| Larger groups | A buyout for a party of ten |
The meal runs about two hours: two or three appetizers, thirteen to fifteen pieces of nigiri, a hand roll, miso soup, and dessert. Chef Tatsuya Sekiguchi is owner and executive chef, and the counter is the restaurant. There are no private rooms and no à la carte hiding spot.
The practical consequence for a group of six is that Tatsu cannot seat you together on a normal night. Either take two pairs across a seating, or take the buyout.
If Tatsu is full, where else
| You wanted | Book instead |
|---|---|
| A counter and a chef in front of you | Tei-An, sixteen omakase seats in the Arts District |
| Omakase with a room around it | Nobu, seventeen courses Tuesday and Wednesday |
| A group of eight or more | Musume, private dining up to 42 |
| Charcoal rather than raw fish | Tei Tei Robata Bar |
We watch the release dates so you do not have to set an alarm for the 1st of the month. Tell us the window you are in town: ask the concierge or request a reservation.
