Indianapolis is the civilised road trip: a roof, a sensible temperature, and a crowd perfectly capable of being loud without ever being unpleasant about it. Lucas Oil Stadium is one of the better rooms in the league to watch football in, and a noon kickoff makes for an early start on the Central clock. The Colts and the Cowboys meet rarely enough that no real grudge has had the chance to form, which is its own quiet appeal in a season stacked with fixtures that arrive pre-loaded. Sometimes a football game is permitted to be a football game. Early November, the season past its opening act and not yet into its closing one, and a result that will matter considerably more in January than it appears to on the day. In Dallas it is a late breakfast with a whole afternoon still ahead of it.
