About Sfuzzi Dallas

Sfuzzi Margherita
Sfuzzi Margherita Pizza

"Sfuzzi," which is pronounced foo-zee, is Italian for "fun food." And, while the food at Sfuzzi is certainly fun, the rest of the experience is, too. Located in Dallas' swanky Uptown district, Sfuzzi features an outdoor patio, flat screen TV panels, evocative music, and a glass-enclosed fireplace, all of which work in concert to create an ambience that is at once posh and full of energy. No wonder DFW.com proclaimed that, "Since opening last April in Uptown, Sfuzzi has consistently been one of the best scenes in all of DFW."

Sfuzzi aims to resuscitate fond memories of a legendary eatery and late-night hotspot of the same name, which opened in 1987. The original didn't survive the 1990s, but it was an institution in Dallas, bringing quality Italian fare to a city that didn't have much of it. Waltrina Stovall, erstwhile restaurant critic for the Dallas Morning News, heaped praise on the original Sfuzzi, saying, "It's four-star all the way."

The new Sfuzzi resides across from where the original once stood. And it replicates the quality food for which its predecessor was known. At the same time, it doesn't self-consciously mimic the original Sfuzzi. It has a contemporary and thoroughly au courant feel.

Sfuzzi does classic Italian fare – and it does it well – together with innovative interpretations of the standards. If you visit the restaurant for lunch mid-day, you can enjoy a classic Margherita pizza or you can revel in something a little more adventurous, like the Texas farm-raised egg and bacon pizza. This creation has become something of a favorite among Dallas foodies, including the food critic for The Dallas Observer, who gushed, "Bacon. And egg. On pizza...The crust was perfect—not soggy. The egg was gooey and tasted amazing with bacon. It was like having breakfast and lunch simultaneously."

From South Beach Gazpacho to Lobster Salad Panini and Ike’s Breadless Chicken Parmesan, you will find all manner of pioneering and fun food on Sfuzzi’s brunch, lunch and dinner menus. Even more surprising are the prices, which are remarkably reasonable for the restaurant’s tony Uptown location. The lunch menu contains a large selection of fare for under $10, and you can enjoy most of the items on its dinner menu for less than $15.

Just as notable as the food menu is Sfuzzi's selection of cocktails. The Original Frozen Sfuzzi is a house specialty of prosecco and white peach nectar, while the Frozen Blueberry Mojito combines fresh blueberries with rum, mint, lime, and agave nectar. It's little wonder that the bar at Sfuzzi is often packed until 2:00am and beyond most weekends.

The new Sfuzzi wants to be more than a restaurant; it aspires to be a dining experience. When you enter the venue, you are greeted by an interior that consciously harkens back to a classic New York City pizzeria. Plush, red-curtained walls, large mirrors and sophisticated color schemes conjure a romantic and seductive mood. For those looking for a hangout spot, however, Sfuzzi provides an ideal setting, as well. The wrap-around patio, with the aforementioned flat screen panels and fireplace, can rival any of Uptown's many illustrious haunts. Reverential of the tradition it has inherited while also eager to embrace a cool, contemporary appeal, Sfuzzi is one of Dallas's preeminent restaurants.
